Are you met with the loud rumbling of the HVAC working from outside sending all of the cool air you requested? That’s good. That’s what is supposed to happen. Once you’ve decided that it is turning on and working effectively then you may need to change the filter. If you think your thermostat does not work properly please call us. Next, it’s time to clean or change your furnace filter. Experts say this is the easiest and most important part of DIY HVAC maintenance for spring. It’s easy to do but it has a large impact on whether or not your air conditioning system is working the way it was designed. We know you’re a busy family and probably don’t have a lot of time to change your filter, and we can help, but routine maintenance can save you time and money in the long run! The last thing you want to do is call an HVAC technician here at ACE and we will replace your filter for you and help with air duct cleaning!

HVAC systems require some sort of coolant to ensure that the system is blowing the coolest air possible. You may have experienced air blowing but not cooling. This is totally the most frustrating thing! In an effort to prevent your home from possibly being filled with lukewarm air in the heat of spring, or summer, we want you to check your unit’s refrigerant levels. Remember not all units have the same type of refrigerant so make sure that you check the information on the back panel of your unit to ensure that you’re picking up a refill for the right type of refrigerant.

Next, if you’ve done this a time or two before, you may be able to turn the power off and clean and adjust the fins and coils in your unit. It is very important that you make sure the power has been disconnected before you go diving inside the air conditioning unit. DIY tips of this nature are easily performed but should be approached with some background in tinkering before getting started.
